The Blue Angels will be joined by a stellar group of performers for the Blue Thunder Air Show, July 24-25.The performers include Matt Younkin, Kyle and Amanda Franklin and USAF F-16 Viper East Coast Demonstration Team.Two of the dare devils to also make the list are local favorites, MiG Fury Fighters out of Driggs, Idaho, and Greg Poe from Meridian, Idaho.Matt Younkin learned to fly at age 14 and now flies more than 50 different types of planes. He takes after his father, the legendary air show pilot Bobby Younkin.Kyle and Amanda Franklin keep flying in the family as well. Kyle is the son of famous pilot Jimmy Franklin. Kyle’s wife Amanda is also the younger sister of Younkin.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, Canada's air demonstration team, will fly past shortly after noon to help open the fifth annual Atlanticade Motorcycle Festival, which is coming to Charlotte County for the first time.
On June 26 the Snowbirds will perform an air show at Charlo, which is close enough for a nine-aircraft formation to fly over St. Andrews four days later, Snowbirds public affairs officer Capt. Marc Velasco explained in a telephone interview Wednesday.
St. Andrews will get the same treatment as, for example, the Grey Cup, Canadian National Exhibition or Canada Day on Parliament Hill, he said.
"It's something we're doing for the community because we're in the area."
Jerry Jacobson waited months to ride with the Blue Angels. On Wednesday, he was told he’d have to wait a little while longer.
Jacobson was one of three area people chosen to ride with Blue Angel No. 7 Wednesday. But because clouds had settled in, Chippewa Valley Air Show co-chair Lonnie Kolar was the only one who got to ride. Jacobson had to wait until this morning.
